Facebook is for Bums.

... and I am one of them.

Xanga has changed a lot since I last visited. It'll take me a bit to re-adjust, but i'll get there eventually.

I wonder if anyone even remembers poor old xanga... maybe I am the last lone dinosaur...

Caramel fudge bars are in the oven, most kiddos are down for a nap, some peeps are just leaving to play tennis, clouds are rolling in from the west, the dreamgirls delight me with tunes.

a rainbow in my hair and highlights on the way.

there is a certain inexplicable joy in finding a rainbow... wether it be on the floor, or resting on a strangers shoulder, the way it hits your hand for a second as you walk, or high in the eastern sky.... of course I like to find more rainbows than are found through natural means by adorning myself and my living area in many various kinds of rainbow paraphernalia.

*confession*...I had to look up paraphernalia... and I was missing the second "r". *sigh*

I hear the delighted laugh of a small child.

naps are ending.

so am I.

peace be with you all.

School...and Such

For the beauty of the earth..

tonight I'm rocking (like a lullaby) to the cambridge singers. It's perfect for a Friday night chilling session. promise.

Suppose it will have to change shortly when I head upstairs to do a few loads of over due laundry...hmm..

Chicago is one of my new favorite places in the whole world.
-I see the Sears tower every day on my way back from school.
-can now ride public transportation like a pro.
-I've eaten Bobtail Ice cream.
-visited Threadless (the store!!!).
-been to the Art Institute (and eaten part of a display *burp* ).
-been to Lincoln Park Zoo and conservatory and a Saturday morning green market right in Lincoln Park
-laughed at "Smoke on the Mountain" (a play) until I felt sick.
-been to and eaten at the Wiener Circle.
-got my shoulders crisped by Lake Michigan.
-attended a concert at Fourth Presbyterian.
-walked the Magnificent Mile (plus 2 or so more).
-rode in a taxi with a schizophrenic (or something) driver.
-walked through and took many picture on the University Campus.
-been to wicker park (as in, the movie...or so I hear).
-walked under cloud gate and through millenium park.
-meandered (with Colleen) through the Chicago Public Library all the while smelling nearby books.
-enjoyed Calder, Chagall, Miro...(and that lady with the fork in her head...).
-had my picture taken with a million dollars (would you like that in 100's, 20's or 1's?).
-worshipped at Moody church with Valery, Colleen and many brothers and sisters in Christ (A Mighty Fortress Is Our God was the first hymn...I wept thereafter).
-stood on top of the world (or North America more like)...
-built many flower designs, watched old fashion slides and read about wire gauges, topiaries, casket sprays etc..

and the list goes on. Congratulations if you made it through that.

In case all of you didn't know, I have been staying with friends...of a friend..of a friend (gotta love Christian networking) and before that with a good friend of Colleen's from college. All three are amazing Christian women! It has been great getting to know them! What a blessing!

Belgian accents rock...I was Abi-zhale until someone corrected the speaker....*bummer*

anywho. laundry calls me away.

thank you all for your prayers! I am doing wonderfully!

peace and love to all.

Violet Hill

Coldplay has a new album coming out on June Seventeenth. Don't know what the rest of it will be like, but check this out!

Violet Hill

hope that works for y'all.

On a totally different subject...I have had a very productive weekend so far! gut cleaned my entire room...and gut cleaned meaning...even the gritty corners! helped clean the house, basked in the sun, took a nine mile bike ride with two Dougs and got a totally rad picture of my dad and I.

which I will now show you.

:content:

and of course...when on a bike ride, why not throw in a little jousting!
IMG_7959

so there ya have it.

summer days are filling up. leaving on the train for Chicago in about three weeks.

Mother's day is gonna be crazy around the greenhouse and flowershop! I'm so excited! Now that the snow is finally gone people are really ready to get into the dirt....and the rest of us working at the greenhouse are close to being done with it....well, not really, but we're almost done with transplanting, and that's a real good feeling!

I think dinner is on the way (literally) and I should be heading out.

Y'all have a lovely evening/day/night/morning...whatever it is for you right now.

Love,

twigs

Gee Whiz

It HAS been a long time.

hmm...I ask myself why in the world i end up doing this at such bizarre hours of the day. poor, neglected bloggy-world.

i do apologize.

the biggest developments since the last time:

~finished high school
~my best friend proposed and i said yes, which makes us an engaged couple.
~started work at the greenhouse again

and while it doesn't look like much...each of these has effected my life in many, many different ways...making it more crazy and wonderful than ever.

doesn't mean it's all easy.

My man has now been in Iraq for about a week. Have been able to talk with him a couple times...cell phones and computers are a gift from God.

sleep sounds good.

i shall depart.

peace to you all.
